... on sculpture and applied arts from the 17th and 18th centuries.
An expert in sculpture and applied arts of the 17th and 18th centuries, Adolf Jansen (1899-1989) concluded his career as curator of the sculpture department at the Royal Museums of Art and History in Brussels.
100 folders of material
With countless publications to his name, Jansen's collection mainly consists of manual documentation: over a hundred folders of notes, photographs, clippings, publications and other documents. He drew on this rich source for elaborating his publications and exhibitions. Classified by artist, iconography, topography, typology and material type, the documentation covers art owned by the church, sculpture and applied arts, among others.
His collection is closely linked to that of his well-known research partner, Charles Van Herck. His collection is also housed within the Rubenshuis.
