Baroque in Bloom
Masterful tulips in Rubens’ garden, only in April and May
Masterful tulips in Rubens’ garden, only in April and May
Spring unfolds in the Baroque garden. With tulips and other early bloomers such as snake’s head fritillaries, crown imperials and spring snowflakes, the garden changes every day.
Only in April and May can you admire rare tulips in Rubens’ garden. Nearly 1,000 bulbs of 22 unique historical tulip varieties take turns blooming. In addition to white, yellow, orange, red and purple specimens, rare flamed tulips with mixed colour patterns will also be on display. Until about mid-May they bloom one after another: from elegant white, bright yellow or orange-red tulips to rare flamed and striped varieties. All with remarkable names such as Tulipa ‘Black and White’, ‘Absalon’, ‘Bacchus’, ‘Bronze Charm’, ‘Little Princes’ or ‘Rubens Broken’. Rubens himself loved tulips. In the 17th century, tulips were a symbol of luxury and wealth.
From spring onwards, various outdoor activities will resume, including yoga in the garden, introductory tours, workshops and herb walks.
The tulips can only be seen in April and May.
