Collection of the Iconographic Institute of Antwerp

… with a focus on European art

Collection of the Iconographic Institute of Antwerp

The Iconographic Institute was founded in 1940 by art photographer Jos Delville and several prominent Antwerp citizens, with the noble aim of raising awareness and appreciation for works of art through photographic reproductions.

Alphabetical photo library

In 1947, all documentation was transferred to the Municipal Prints Room. In 2013, the entire photo library was then transferred back to the Rubenshuis. The documentation on Rubens and other artists from the Southern Netherlands from the 16th and 17th centuries was incorporated into the artwork documentation. The rest of the collection consists of photographs and photographic reproductions with a focus on European art from halfway through the Middle Ages to the 20th century. Arranged alphabetically by artist name so you can quickly retrieve the right information.
