Digital artwork documentation
We also supplement the extensive artwork documentation of the Rubenshuis digitally. You can consult it online and easily search for things. You will find complete artwork descriptions, provenance information and literature references.
Digital supplement
The database RKDimages is one of the most important digital image collections of Dutch and Flemish art from the late Middle Ages to the present. The Rubenshuis also contributes to this work by the RKD, the Netherlands Institute for Art History. It is a supplement to the analogue artwork documentation available in our library. A compilation of information on Flemish art pre-1800. With digital images and digitised photographs from the analogue artwork documentation.
Project-based digitisation
The collaboration with RKD is project-based. As such, a few years ago we registered digital records on Flemish landscape art from the early 17th century. And we are now busy registering the project 'Digitizing the Corpus Rubenianum Ludwig Burchard'. You guessed it: the complete oeuvre of Rubens in RKDimages. A work in progress. You can already consult these digital artwork descriptions via the online Corpus.
Even more research
In addition, the database RKDResearch is a rich resource for art history research. An overview of all research tools at the Rubenshuis can be found here.
