Jean-pierre De Bruyn collection
… on the oeuvre of Erasmus Quellinus II
Jean-Pierre De Bruyn (b. 1948) completed his PhD on the artist Erasmus Quellinus II (1607-1678) at the University of Ghent in 1982. Six years later, that seed produced its first wonderful fruit: a monographic study on Quellinus.
First monographic exhibition Quellinus
In 2014, De Bruyn's research resulted in the first monographic exhibition 'Dans le sillage de Rubens, Erasme Quellin' at the Musée de Flandre in Cassel. The exhibition catalogue includes an extensive bibliography and a revised overview of Quellin's oeuvre. After the exhibition, Jean-Pierre De Bruyn donated his entire personal working archive to the Rubenshuis. A treasure trove of information!
Structure of the collection
