Hans Gerhard Evers collection
… a genuine Rubens specialist
Art historian and professor Hans Gerhard Evens (1900-1993) adored Rubens. For more than 50 years, he scrutinised every aspect of Rubens' work and life. The highlight? The monograph he wrote on the Flemish artist in 1942.
Comprehensive collection
Even after the monograph, Evers enthusiastically continued to build the collection. Following his death, the entire collection was transferred to the Rubenshuis. With photos, notes, excerpts from literature, bibliographical references and correspondence, it has become an extensive research archive. Where, moreover, you will also find material from Evers' work as a Rubens specialist. These include drafts of lectures and participations in a wide variety of events.
