This tiny panel with Venus, the goddess of love and Cupid, her son, is an allegory of spring. It was painted by Hans Rottenhammer. "Venus and Cupid" was part of the collection of the art collector Cornelis van der Geest. It is centrally displayed in the painting "The Art Cabinet of Cornelis van der Geest" by the Antwerp artist Willem van Haecht (1593-1637).
